Settling Into The Nursery
Session One: will be up to one hour where you and your child will visit the room your child will be starting in. During this hour parent/guardian will need to ‘stay and play’ and complete a form called “all about me”. This provides you the opportunity to let the staff team know everything about your child, from favourite meals, toys, likes/dislikes to any medical information and dietary requirements. If your child has any food allergies or requirements the Nursery Chef will join the settling in sessions to understand the requirements and have a chat regarding menu choices.
Settling session Two: will be up to one hour. You and your child will visit the room together, for the first 10-15 minutes of the session. We will then ask the parent/guardian to come out of the room for the remaining 45 minutes, so the child can experience the room with the nursery team and other children. Parents are welcome to leave the setting or take a seat in our parents room.
Settling session Three: will be up to 2 hours (child dependent). We will ask the parent/carer to drop the child off. This will allow the child to explore the room independently with the team and start to enjoy part of a day at of Leafield House!
Settling session four/five (if needed) will be the same as session three. These will be offered based on the Childs needs and if they need a little extra time to settle in.
During the settle sessions and once your child has joined you will have daily feedback from your child’s key worker via the parent app as well as verbal feedback at pick-ups. This provides the key workers time to support and build relationships with you and your child.
We believe that children naturally build their own relationships and therefore take the lead of each child in choosing their own key worker.
